Twin Peaks, David Lynch, and the Wonder of the Weird

Director David Lynch remarked, "The ideas dictate everything. You have to be true to that or you're dead." And YouTuber Braxton Haugen springboards his video essay on David Lynch's cinematic work with this quote, which he argues is central to understanding the director's eccentric body of work. Again, this is the kind of reevaluation of Lynch's work I have been hoping for all along, so it is gratifying to see more video essays of quality like this one popping up on YouTube.

To say we were left with a few questions at the end of the finale of Twin Peaks: The Return (2017) would be grossly underestimating the situation. And although he is not providing all the answers, Mark Frost is taking the opportunity to shine some light on Agent Cooper's final quest to save Laura Palmer.

Late Night Twin Peaks Parody!

Late Night with Seth Meyers has some fun pretending to make a talk show inside Twin Peak's famous Red Room, and it is surprisingly funny and engaging. I know this is a joke, but I want an actual talk show like this now. Along with the recent WWE parody, it looks like parodying David Lynch and Mark Frost's surreal masterpiece is all the fashion nowadays and we Peakers should revel in every glorious moment of it.

Twin Peaks (1990-91) was like the candle that burned twice as bright and lived half as long. For it to get a rebirth is like the Phoenix taking flight again after resurrecting out of its own ashes. It is an amazing time to be a TV viewer.
